Since coming to University Al-Azhar Indonesia (UAI) on February 17, 2025, to conduct an exchange study program to study Japanese Literature, six students from Tohoku University have experienced the diverse Indonesian culture and food offered. Still, most importantly, they enjoyed UAI’s learning atmosphere, lessons, and the amity of the whole faculty. Now, to commemorate it, the Japanese Literature Department, along with the Office of International Affairs and Partnerships of UAI, have conducted an awarding certificate event for the Tohoku students on March 2, 2025.
Opening Remarks Session


The awarding was done in the Multipurpose Room, 2nd floor of UAI, where the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Lusi Lian Piantari, S.S., M.Hum, Head of Office of International Affairs & Partnerships, Dr. Mohamad Ghozali Moenawar, Lc., M.M., Head of Japanese Language and Culture Study Program, Vera Yulianti, S.S., M.A., and Head of International Cooperation Section, Muchammad Nasucha, S.S., M.Si. receive the Tohoku University students.
The event commenced with opening remarks from Mr. Ghozali who underscored the importance of creating new memories and enjoying the studying process in UAI.
We’re delighted to be able to host you during the course of your study, and we hope you feel the same way. Most importantly, we hope you were able to create a lot of memories here and learn many things during your study. Therefore, you bring new perspective when you return to Japan.
Then, Mr. Nasucha conveyed his hope for the students to be able to study in UAI in the future and asked them to fill study satisfaction survey form regarding their study in UAI.
We hope this experience inspired you to study in our university in the future and other Japanese students. I have also sent you a study satisfaction survey to gauge how much you enjoyed your time here and what we can improve to give the best international study experience to other international students.
After the remark from Mr. Nasucha concluded it ushered in a certificate awarding session.

The certificate awarding session was conducted by Dr. Lusi, Dr. Ghozali, and Ms. Vera where they called each students to the stage and gave them the certificates. Afterwards, the certificate awarding session ended with a group photo.
Conclusion

The exchange program with Tohoku University students has proved that UAI’s internationalization strategy has taken a consistent and measured approach to cementing its place as an internationally relevant university that is enticing for international students to study at. Aamiin (BR).
