On Wednesday, November 01, 2017, Universitas Al Azhar Indonesia welcomed three guests from Australia. Two are from the Trade & Investment Queensland (TIQ) namely Ms. Rebecca Hall as the Executive Director for International Education and Training Unit and Ms. Irma Irsyad as the Indonesian representative of the Business Development Manager. In addition, there is Mr. Gordon Scott as the Managing Director of Successful Graduate Pty Ltd. The visit is to grow more opportunity between Indonesia and Australia, especially Queensland, in Education and Research, as well as Mr. Scott to develop his new course called Successful Graduate to be able to prepare the fresh graduates on where to go next. And from UAI side were represented by the Vice Rector III Ms. Nita Noriko, Head of International Relation Office Mr. Yasmi Adriansyah, Head of Law Program Mr. Yusuf Hidayat, Head of Research and Development Department Ms. Lusi Lian Piantari, and a postgraduate lecturer of The Faculty of Law Mr. Fokky Fuad.
The successful cooperation program between the two countries can be seen from the program that one of the luckiest UAI’s student, Alfian Mahardika from the Faculty of Law had received. He was awarded the International Student Ambassador from The State of Queensland, Australia and spent his time promoting the program for six months last year. Seeing how successful Alfian’s program was, TIQ is intrigued to have more programs connecting Indonesia and Australia.
A few that were mentioned are in research, student exchange, and public service. UAI hopes to send more students from any faculty to Queensland as part of the program, also to have staffs or lecturers to do researches and public services. Another possibility to look forward is to have a twinning program. These will be hopefully done between UAI and 10 universities in Queensland.
As for the program from Mr. Scott, Successful Graduate is a program to prepare the fresh graduates for their future plans. It helps them to get directions of where they are going next and test their employment ability. The program is designed to help improving themselves as a person who are ready to find their desirable jobs.
UAI wish for the continuity of these ideas to bring the connection stronger between Indonesia and Australia in terms of Education and Research.
