On Thursday, 31th October 2019, Universitas Al Azhar Indonesia collaborate with Ikatan Cendikiawan Muslim Indonesia (ICMI) held an executive lecture with a theme “Muslim Community Relations of Cambodia and Indonesia: Between Hopes and Realities.” It was honor that Senior Minister in Charge of Special Mission Islamic Affairs Cambodia , H.E. Oknha Datuk Dr. Otshman Hassan becomes a keynote speaker for this event.
The Executive Lecture also attended by Ambassador of Cambodia for Indonesia (H.E. Hor Nam Bora), Vice Secretary General of Cambodian Muslim Development Foundation (Mr. Yob Ahskary), Chairman of Ikatan Cendikiawan Muslim Indonesia (ICMI) (Prof. Dr. Jimly Asshiddiqie), Head of YPI Al Azhar (Mr. H. Sobirin), Lecturers from University in Jakarta, and the Students of Universitas Al Azhar Indonesia.
Started with singing Indonesia Raya (Indonesian Anthem) and Nokor Reach (Cambodian Anthem), the executive lecture discussed about history of the Islamic development in Cambodia, how Moslems in Cambodia could survive with the rules of the King. Until in 1970s, the Cambodian King made policies which supported the Cambodian Moslem Communities until now. Therefore, Cambodia through the Mr. Othsman Hassan as a Senior Minister in Charge of Special Mission Islamic Affairs Cambodia hopefully could support and build more stronger relationship together between Cambodian Moslem Communities and Indonesian Moslem Communities.
