Adelaide Education Group (AEG) which comprises the Adelaide International School (AIS), Adelaide Institute of Business and Technology (AIBT), Adelaide Institute of Higher Education (AIHE), and Adelaide Research Institute (ARI) visited University Al-Azhar Indonesia (UAI) on Tuesday (7/3) to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Rectorate Room, 2nd floor of UAI. The event was attended by Mr. Don Chen (Managing Director of AEG), Mr. Peter Frank Mickan, (Director of Adelaide Research Institute of AEG) and spouse, Mrs. Gillian Margareth Micka, Ms. Dyah Utami, Representative for Indonesia Office of AEG, Mr. Muhammad Yasin, and Mrs. Ida Maghfirah of Directorate General on Elementary and Secondary Education of YPI Al-Azhar,
“Thank you for coming and always trusting us. UAI has an initial cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2019 with Adelaide Institute of Business and Technology (AIBT). Therefore, with this new agreement that commits to promote and develop cooperation in areas of Exchange of personnel that may include teaching staff and students can be implemented as soon as possible. As the act to internationalize our academics, UAI currently has collaborated with more than 400 partnerships both international and domestics and the results have been tangible. We cannot wait for this renewal collaboration with AEG”. Dr. Ir. Ade Jamal delivered in the opening remarks.
On the occasion, Mr. Chen expressed his gratitude to YPI Al-Azhar as well UAI for welcoming the delegations to this event. It is his second time to UAI and it is a pleasure to introduce AEG as well as begin again with this new agreement. Adelaide Education Group (AEG) is a multi-sectored and dynamic education consortium based in South Australia and delivers government accredited and non-award courses from Primary to Postgraduate levels for local and overseas students. With Australian campuses in Adelaide and Melbourne, AEG is keen to expand its range of joint industry and institutional partnerships globally.
What we always plan is to settle programs that are based on research. So, it is not somebody else’s ideas, it is not foreign ideas, but it is something that we have chastened in schools, universities, matches with research. Our research is educational research, it is qualitative research, linked with quantitative. That our belief as the foundation to internalization” (Mr. Peter Frank Mickan)
Adding some words, Mr. Mickan elaborated that as one of the implementations of this agreement it will involve Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) program, he emphasized that it has played a significant role in Internationalization in higher education. One of which will be about research as he puts a concern on language learning and language use for participation in society with the focus on text analysis for transforming languages pedagogy and curriculum. By having this collaboration, hopefully all the parties could realize the joint research program between the three institutions.
At last, as AEG, YPI Al-Azhar, and UAI expect this collaboration will surely be a valuable opportunity for all the parties to advance its internalization commitment.
