Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) has long been standing as University Al-Azhar Indonesia’s (UAI) earliest partner in China, where both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on January 11, 2021. Since then, both parties have engaged in numerous meetings to discuss collaboration prospects. On March 7, 2025, the Head of International Relations Office of BUCT, Ms. Julia Zhao, visited UAI to discuss potential programs between respective institutions.
Discussion with Faculty of Law, UAI


Ms. Julia visited the Faculty of Law of UAI, in the 3rd floor of UAI and was received by the Head of the Office of International Affairs and Partnership, Dr. Mohamad Ghozali Moenawar, Lc., M.M., and the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, Akhmad Safik, S.E., M.H., LL.M., Head of International Relations Cooperation Section, Muchammad Nasucha, S.S., M.Si. Afterwards, both parties explored potential collaboration prospects, one of them being a Faculty of Law visit to Beijing universities to cultivate collaboration opportunities. Mr. Syafik mentioned the importance of balancing the partners we approach and fostering concrete collaboration with them.
Our faculty needs to have a balanced approach and partners either in the West or East. We have established numerous cooperations with Western universities and companies, and we want the same with Chinese universities and companies as now we live in an open world, where we will compete with other countries.
Ms. Julia echoed Mr. Safik statement by wanting to connect the Faculty of Law of UAI to prominent Chinese universities and companies.
BUCT shared the same objective with UAI, and we will help our partner to enhance themselves. That is why I’m going to connect you with Beijing universities such as the Beijing Institute of Technology, China University of Political and Law, etc. We will also helped you to visit Chinese companies such as BAIC Group, Yingke Law Firm, etc.

Discussion with Faculty of Biology, UAI

After the exploration of collaboration with the Faculty of Law was concluded, Ms. Julia, Mr. Ghozali, and Mr. Nasucha went into the Leaders Visitor Room on the 2nd floor, where they met with the Head of Biology Study Program, Firman Alamsyah, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., to explore potential cooperation in joint degree and scholarship program. Mr. Firman remarked that this is a wonderful opportunity for both universities to produce a world-quality students that is needed by the industry.
I will send our curriculum as soon as possible so that our students may be able to experience the learning process of each university, and it would be a wonderful opportunity if our students will be able to intern or work in Chinese companies after their graduation. This will ensure the students have the proper knowledge to succeed as a world-quality students.
Then, Ms. Julia welcomed Mr. Firman’s initiative to establish a joint degree program.
Absolutely, we will provide your student with a full line of scholarships, it will cover the tuition and half of the accommodation. But for daily sustenance, the students will cover it themselves. After your students finished their study, we will recommend them to work in a Chinese companies.

Conclusion
