Wednesday (16/11), University Al-Azhar Indonesia (UAI) and Prince of Songkla University (PSU) agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Hat Yai District Songkhla where PSU’s main campus is located. This MoU agreement has the wider scope of collaborative ventures to be undertaken in the near future such as faculty collaboration for the purpose of joint research, students’ collaboration for the purpose of joint research, joint publication, participation in academic meetings and conferences mutually.

The Rector of UAI (Prof. Dr. Ir. Asep Saefuddin, M.Sc) together with seven delegates of UAI,who were Vice Rector IV for Innovation and Cooperation (Dr. Ir. Ade Jamal), Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (Dr. Kuncoro Hadi, S.T., M.Si.), Dean of Faculty of Psychology and Education (Dr. Drs. Fidesrinur, M.Pd.), Dean of Faculty of Law, Head of Office of International Affairs (Mohamad Ghozali Moenawar, Lc., M.M.), Head of the Division of Academic, Research, and Industrial Cooperation (Muchammad Nasucha, S.S., M.Si.), and Head of Subsection Directorate of Curriculum and Learning (Faisal Sundani Kamaludin, Lc., M.Ed., Ph.D.) was welcomed by The Vice President for Pattani Campus (Asst. Prof. Dr. Attachai Ueranantasun).

We proudly present UAI as the Faculty of Islamic Sciences of PSU as it is the only one in Thailand ”, The Vice President for Pattani Campus said.

Furthermore, during the discussion with the Faculty of Education of PSU, the two universities talked about the program of community development. PSU currently has its own Language Development Centre so it can be beneficial to maximize all the Academica’s potential. This is an important part as Arabic and English are the languages of instruction for Internationals Academica in PSU Pattani. Hence, the international training program must be taken to both parties’ account and should be implemented soon.

Moreover, all UAI delegations also stopped by the Faculty of Islamic Sciences of PSU at Pattani Campus. Quoting from PSU, Pattani Campus has a multicultural society, the centre of diverse cultures and traditions, and rich in resources. It offers education in Social Sciences, Humanities, Fine and Applied Arts, Political Science, Education, Islamic Studies, Communication Technology, Rubber and Polymer, Food Technology and Fisheries, corresponding with the context of resources and cultural life of residents of the Lower South, with their own identities. One of the main studying features of the Pattani Campus is that it embraces the College of Islamic Studies where Arabic, Islamic theology and Shari’ah subjects are in high demand.

Advancing the previous collaboration in signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) last October between the Faculty of Psychology and Education of Ui and Faculty of Islamic Sciences of PSU, this current collaboration hopefully will lead to fruitful results for the two universities.

On the occasion of the agenda, Asst. Prof. Dr. Muhammadroflee Waehama (Dean of Faculty of Islamic Sciences of PSU); Asst. Prof. Dr. Yuttana Kuakul Ph.D. (Lecturer of Faculty of Islamic Sciences of PSU); Dr. Niabadee Ming Ph.D. (Lecturer of Faculty of Islamic Sciences); and Asst. Prof. Dr. Rusdee Taher (Director of The Arabic Language, Proficiency Test, and Skill Development Center of PSU) hosted the delegations during their visit in Thailand (TSH).
