Following up the previous collaboration between University Al-Azhar Indonesia (UAI) and Tatung University (TTU) in the early year of 2023. Wednesday (12/7) the UAI’s delegations who are consisting of Prof. Dr. Ir. Asep Saefuddin, M.Sc (Rector of UAI), Mohamad Ghozali Moenawar, Lc., M.M. (Head of Office of International Affairs), Dr. Shih (the Director of TIUL), Faradesiva Angger and Jian Ke-Sin (Officers of TIUL) visited Tatung University for the very first time to advance as well as implement the two universities’ collaboration. During the visitation, everyone is welcomed by the Prof. Ming-Guo Her (President of TTU) in a speech together with his Academica.

At this opportunity, both universities have agreed to advance the cooperation in signing two memorandum of agreement (MoA) in academic agreement and agreement for student exchange. They hereby agree to implement their both programs which involve the exchange of faculty, scholars, and students for the purpose of lecture, study, research, internship, and or attend conferences and seminars, exchange of thesis, teaching materials, and academic or scientific literature or information, and cooperation on research projects and other joint academic activities.

In the same way, Prof. Asep also continued his executive lecture in TTU with the advanced topic of “Statistics and Industry 5.0 II” which the first edition was held virtually in last May 2023. Prof. Asep also pointed up the 3 pillars of industry 5.0. They consist of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) supports science and knowledge storage data in efficient manner, we can collect a big amount of data by using minimal shape invented-technology, Big Data carry out new opportunities to modern society and challenges to data scientists. It holds great promises for discovering subtle population patterns and heterogeneities that are not possible with small-scale data (Fang, Han, and Liu, 2014). The direct and simple conventional statistics nowadays and in the future will be irrelevant to use, it brings us to the more complex and huger of data, surely big data analysis is an inevitable in modern society (now and then), and big data analysis as the competitive skill be the more germane evidence-based of decision and policy making.

“The 3 Pillars of Industry 5.0: People-Centricity, Sustainability, and Resilience”

Prof. Asep

Added some more, Prof. Asep uttered the new landscape as the current circumstance which leads to three things based on his concern. Firstly, it plays a role in the consequences of technological inventions that come into industry, society, and education as well nowadays. Secondly, Skills that industries look for to fulfil needs and competition are new and many based on current technology (digital). Micro-credentials as an industrial strategy in facing current situations (e.g., Google Career Certificates for Data analyst, IT Support, UX Designers) (Satria, 2023).

Prof. Asep advanced the topic by redefining statistics in a sample of proof that statistics creates the condition more clearly as well as being helpful in making rational and assertive conclusions. He presented the illustration of “The Modern Smart Home”. He described that in the current and future society which is familiarly known as society 5.0 (the facing industry 5.0) as the paradigm is to convergence of advanced technology and human (human-centric paradigm), also green-strategy. On another note, statistics also contributes in data mining, data editing, measuring, analyzing & interpreting, and concluding. In this case, statistics also contributes in developing software tools and application for many daily practices also for industry on the sample of modern smart homes.

Finally, Prof. Asep concluded that the statistics role is very crucial and the scientific approach and principle must be implemented to propose the effective and exact conclusion. It supports creating the best recommendation for future action or decision. Science without measurement as the parameter in ignorance area (statistics) recurrently categorized as not satisfying or weak, namely “soft science”. Statistics has been part of many fields such as business, education, health, politics, etc. It often connects to analysis of variance to test a treatment in experiment primarily on a farm. It is applied in industry.

After getting to know one another, all the UAI’s delegates were invited to do a campus tour in TTU. Everyone had chances to visit the Maker Space & 3D Printing Center, Labs (Chemical Engineering), and Labs (Electrical Engineering). The event ended with souvenirs hand-over between the leaders of two universities with a group photo session. (MN/TSH/FA)
