Writer of two children books, Publishing Consultant of Kube Publishing, UK, Chairman Human Welfare League, Mauritius and part of IIIT UK, that’s who Dr. Anwar Cara is. Hailing from humble beginning in Mauritius, Dr. Anwar has always been captivated with Islamic thoughts and civilization along with writing. His quest for knowledge has led him to become an expert in the field of writing. On October 08, 2024, his journey has brought him to University Al-Azhar Indonesia (UAI).
Illuminating Discussion
Head of Office of International Affairs (OIA) of UAI Dr. Mohamad Ghozali Moenawar, Lc., M.M. and Muchammad Nasucha, S.S., M.Si., Functional Staff of OIA welcomed Dr. Anwar Cara in the OIA office, located in the 2nd floor of UAI. There, both parties partake in an illuminating discussion on Islamic civilization, innovation and history.
Dr. Anwar Cara remarked the one of the crucial element in bringing back the golden era of Islamic Civilization is for Muslim to learn their predecessor history and innovations that shaped modern time as we know now.
Afterwards, Dr. Ghozali and Mr. Nasucha echoed Dr. Anwar beliefs as Muslim students now often put Western scholars in a pedestal and as a sign of excellence, whilst woefully overlook the significant and crucial contribution of Muslim forefathers.
Fulfilling Lunch & Deliberation
Afterwards, the visit continues with a lunch in the Center for Study of the Implementation of Islamic Ethics and Values (PKPENK) Room in the 2nd floor. The visit was hosted by Rector of UAI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Asep Saefuddin, M.Sc and by Drs. Murni Djamal, M.A., Head PKPENK of UAI.
The previous discussion now turns into deliberation on concrete collaboration between both sides, they ventured on collaboration between UAI and Global Association of Islamic School (GAIS) along with Markfield Institute of Higher Education (MIHE), UK in the field of join publication and research. This collaboration was built upon the belief that for Muslim scholars not to be left behind by the western hemisphere, it is imperative to develop robust bond between Muslim in research and education spectrum.
Insightful Visiting Scholars
After lunch was finished, Dr. Anwar impart his wisdom in to a class full of Communication Study Program students wherein he taught “Advertising and Religion” in the 323 Room, 3rd floor. His visiting scholars touched upon the importance of how news and advertising can be misinterpreted by its audience as news outlet often times propagated their content with a vested agenda and contain false information. Therefore, it’s pivotal for students to adhere to Islamic tenets either in creating or consuming contents.
IA Signing
Last but not least, before Dr. Anwar concluded his visit, he and UAI formalize an IA (Implementation) between two parties in the field of Visiting Scholars that promotes international collaboration and enhance the academic experience of students. With the signing of IA formalize Dr. Anwar inspiring lecture and its insightful contribution towards UAI, hopefully other great big minds similar to Dr. Anwar will visited UAI again to work towards the highly coveted Islamic Golden Civilization.
