The 2nd International Multidisciplinary Digital Conference (IMDC) commenced on November 13, 2021, the conference saw participants from eight countries, with the confrence theme, “Social, Engineering and Environmental Issues of the Global World”. IMDC were created by Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (MUET SZAB), Khairpur, India and Narotama University, Surabaya, Indonesia. IMDC was also supported by Consulate General of Republic of Indonesia, Karachi (KJRI), as IMDC is a platform for promoting research and education in Indonesia.
Moreover IMDC can stimulate collaboration of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) between India and Indonesia. In that regard, Rector of University Al-Azhar Indonesia (UAI), Prof. Dr. Ir. Asep Saefuddin, M.Sc. was invited to become a speaker, Prof. Asep touched on the subject of entreprenurial university and how pivotal it is to nowadays economy and society.
“Entreprenurial skills are imperative for students to harness, as these skills enabled students to possess a creative problem solving skills, financial management, effective communication imbued with empathy and openness and willingness to experiments and iterations” expressed by Prof. Asep. Moreover, “The entreprenurial skills that they learn nowadays are integral to comprehend and to be successful in our global economy climate, as shown in US News, that almost all CEO or founder of companies that are featured in Fortune 500 this year was a university graduates.”
“Thus, the needs of an entreprenurial university have become more notable than ever, especially considering the devastating effect of Covid-19 Pandemic to the worlds or state economy”. Prof. Asep concluded his speech with a plea and impetus for HEIs all over the world to become the beacon of solutions for society, to shape an entreprenurial university that will be able to respond and tackle any society challenges.
