Following up the Initiative and MoU Signing Ceremony which is organized by China’s University and College Admission System (CUCAS) and Indonesia-China University Alliance (ICUA) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) on 15th of May 2023, all the members have agreed to gather in discussing and sharing about Introduction of Vocational High Education and Engineering Technology Education in Indonesia and Reform and Achievements of China’s Higher Vocational Education as their early implementation of collaborations. These agenda are wrapped as the event namely “Communication Seminar of Indonesia and China Education System”. The shows were opened with singing and Wushu performances by the Chinese Language Centre (Pusat Bahasa Mandarin) on Tuesday (16/5) at Room 317 A-B at University Al-Azhar Indonesia (UAI).
In the opening remark, Dr. Ir. Ade Jamal (Vice Rector IV for Innovation and Collaboration) expressed his words. “Yesterday all of us witnessed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony at Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) and today we have realized one of the implementations of the program as the initial collaboration. UAI is very humble to host today’s event”. Dr Ade uttered to all the guests.
Hopefully, having all members to gather in discussing and sharing about Indonesia and China’s education systems will open up other amazing collaborations in the future through two important topics that will be delivered by the two speakers”. (Dr. Ade)
Before the seminar begins, Feri Ansori, S.S., M.Ed. (Head of the Chinese Language and Culture Department) introduced UAI and the ongoing collaborations that have been established with Chinese Universities. One of which is with Fujian Normal University. The implementations have been visible such as the transfer credit program (3+1, 2+2, 2+1+1, etc.). Moreover, each university leader also has visited one another campus. This makes all the cooperation is getting tight.
Coming to the main agenda, the first topic of the seminar was delivered by Dr. Hidayati Fithriyah, (Vice Dean of Engineering Faculty of UMJ). She presented the topic of Introduction of Vocational High Education and Engineering Technology Education in Indonesia and Reform and Achievements of China’s Higher Vocational Education which involve the overview of National Qualifications Network, Quality Assurance System, Programs & Majors, Current States, and Muhammadiyah’s Vocational & Engineering Education. “Muhammadiyah Engineering & Vocational Education has benefited 25 million of people”, Dr. Hidayati emphasized.
In the same token, Mr. Qin Chengmin (Director of Business Management Department of Shandong Water Conservancy Vocational College) talked about Achievements of China’s Higher Vocational Education as their early implementation of collaborations. China implements the strategy of prioritizing the development of education, placing vocational education in a prominent position in economic and social development. We attach great importance to and accelerate development, and make good use of the government’s “tangible hand” and the market’s “intangible hand”. With the strong promotion of the government, we will form a diversified educational pattern with deep participation of social forces. Mr. Chengmin stated during the seminar.
Conclusively, the event was ended by a photo session at UAI and everyone puts their biggest hope to realize more amazing programs in the future between the two countries’ education.
