The gravity of education underlined by Malcolm X speech at the founding rally of the Organization of Afro-American Unity,  “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.”

Thus, University Al Azhar of Indonesia (UAI) and Taiwan Education Center (TEC) organized an Info Session on Taiwan Scholarship and Huayu Enrichment Scholarship Program 2020 on March 5, 2020. This event were attended by Rector of UAI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Asep Saefuddin, M.Sc., former Directorate of Cooperation of UAI, Yasmi Adriansyah, Ph.D., Manager of TEC, Ms. Tirta Amerta Effendi as the keynote speaker aswell and the students of University Al Azhar of Indonesia.

The Manager of Taiwan Education Center, Ms. Tirta Amerta Effendi elaborated an insightful information on Taiwan Government scholarships programs for undergraduate, graduate and post graduate for Indonesia citizen. She further stated the benefit of studying in Taiwan “Taiwan have a lower living cost compared to other East Asia countries, the universities in Taiwan also offered dorm for students, moreover Taiwanese are cordial and familiar to english too.”

Afterwards, she elucidated on Taiwan Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES) Program enrollment flow, international students requirements and the objective of HES itself that aimed to encourage international students to undertake Mandarin Chinese (Huayu) courses in Taiwan. In order for international community to amplify their understanding of Taiwanese culture and society and vice versa.

Then the info session continued with a QnA session and officialy concluded with a closing statement from Rector of UAI and a group photo. Through the collaboration between UAI and TEC, it can be inferred that there are still untapped prospect for education cooperation between UAI and TEC and firm statement from both parties to advance the education quality of Indonesia and Taiwan citizen.
