On July 15, 2020, University Al Azhar of Indonesia (UAI) and International Relations Student Corps (KOMAHI) of UAI held a public webinar titled “Diplomacy in 4.0 Era: The Journey of Academics, Politician and Student to Become Ambassadors”. The event was attended by Vice Rectors, Deans and Director of Cooperation of UAI as well as students from other universities in Jakarta. Prof. DR. H. Husnan Bey Fananie, MA., the former Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Azerbaijan attended the event as the keynote speaker of this webinar.
Prof. Husnan mainly spoke about his journey as an Islamic Boarding School student who became an academics, a politician and then finally how he become the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Azerbaijan. He accentuated the most notable trait that we must exhibited and possessed in order to become a successful person are humility and self confidence.
“When we are humble and confident enough with ourselves, success will follow soon. When there was a parade about Indonesia culture in Baku, I join my fellow Indonesian in participating and dressing up in the parade, even though I am an ambassador, I did not care what other thinks of me even though I look silly in the costume”. He further elaborated that what matter was what we think of ourselves and stay humble in our daily live. Prof. Husnan speech will surely evoked ourselves to be a successful person and more importantly to be better than our previous self.
