To celebrate 13 years of cooperative relationship, The Faculties of Science and Technology, Economics and Business, and Psychology and Education of University Al-Azhar Indonesia (UAI) and College of Information and Electrical Engineering, Management, and Medical and Health Sciences of Asia University Taiwan (AUT) signed three of memorandum of agreement (MoA) at Serbaguna Room, 2nd floor of UAI on Saturday (26/11).

Dr. Ir. Ade Jamal (Vice Rector IV for Innovation and Cooperation Field) welcomed the AUT delegations who were Prof. Yinghuei Chen, PhD (Dean International College, Asia University & College of Humanities and Social Sciences), Dr. Ying-Li Lin, (Vice Dean College of Management), Dr. Hsueh-Ting Chu (Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Information, Engineering), Dr. Mein-Woei Suen, (Associate Professor, Department of Psychology), Chien-Kuo Wang. (Associate Professor, Department of Medical Laboratory Science and Biotechnology), Shao-Chun Chiu (Assistant Professor, Department of Accounting and Information Systems), and Vanessa Lai (Project Coordinator, Indonesia Taiwan Education Center in Surabaya).

The event, which was conceptualized into “Rendezvous with Asia University”, was started with a warm speech by Dr. Ir. Ade Jamal.

“It is an honor for UAI to welcome AUT Delegations and I hope the cooperation will be getting tighter and with the collaboration between students, lecturers, and faculty members visiting activity or exchange program will be a mutual chance for both universities” said Dr. Ade.

Prof. Chen also spent his time presenting about AUT and the chance for UAI students to come to study in person in Taiwan. AUT offered many programs of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate which are recognized with the quality itself.

By having this collaboration, hopefully we can promote international collaboration to advance teaching, research, and student or faculty exchange and to provide the basis for a collegial relationship between the institutions” Prof. Chen also expressed.

Another highlight of the event, AUT and UAI has successfully run the Virtual Exchange Program with more than 120 students having participated in the spring, summer, fall, and winter programs from 2020-2022. As a form of appreciation, Prof. Chen awarded certificates to the representative students, Riki Helmi and Aisyah Pratiwi (Students of UAI who participated in Virtual Exchange Program). They also had a chance to share their experiences while following the program.

“In this uncertain situation our dreams to experience study internationally were possible and we could not thank UAI and AUT. We also hope UAT and UAI keep collaborating”, Riki and Aisyah delivered.

As the world’s situation is slowly getting better since the pandemic, the borders of every country have been opened for every student. The chance for the students rather than blend in virtually but physically visit the foreign countries is tangible now. By having this rendezvous event along with the MoA signings, UAI and UAT expect to realize this objective in the near time so that students can realize their dreams as well as experience studying in a reputable and excellent university in person either in Indonesia or Taiwan

On the Occasion, UAI also presented a placard to AUT. As the symbol of the tight relationships that have been going for more than 13 years, UAI thanked AUT for trusting, maintaining, yet advancing the collaborations and other possible collaboration eventually (TSH).
